Leif Ostling, the  Chief Executive at Scania, who will be leaving his position for joining board of Volkswagen, majority-owner, says that he is expecting truck market of Europe to go down by around 10 percent in this year. He says that the truck markets haven’t changed a lot since Scania had reported on the first quarter for April & the outlook for European market, Scania’s largest, was in the line with Volvo’s drop forecast.

He says that it is still a bit touch for Europe. They gave roughly same figure as that of Volvo for European market. They haven’t changed this (view) says Ostling. For last year, total heavy trucks market for amongst 25 countries of European Union along with Switzerland & Norway was about 241,200 units.

Ostling had predicted in the month of April that market will shrink in between 200,000 & 220,000 units for this year as crisis of euro zone dampened the demand in heavy-duty cyclical business of truck. Earlier, Volkswagen had reasserted their control over the wayward brands of trucks along with extensive over haul of the senior management which included Ostling’s appointment. His job will be pushing through closer alliance between MAN and Scania Group, which is owned by carmaker of Germany.
